Nice, not sure if you already know this, but if the stem is lose fitting you can wrap a piece of paper around it and twist it in and after 1 smoke it'll bond inside and the stem will come out clean. If you ever want to remove it it scrapes out easy with a tri tool poker or whatever you have lyin around.
Interesting, I've been dipping the end of the shank in a bit of water and then putting the stem on. It usually swells the wood enough to make it fit properly.

I'm trying to get my PAD under control. Don't get me started looking at meerschaums...
Everyone needs to try a meerschaum at least once. Better to get it out of the way early! Checkout therightpipe.com they have some for real cheap. I refused to try them in the beginning, because I thought they were goofy looking fragile toys. Now, they are all I smoke 90 percent of the time.

Now I wish I'd thrown one in with my last order from there. I've been curious about them for a while. Watching "The Lighthouse" got me wanting to try a clay, too.

I've not smoked one. Do you think they smoke dryer than a system pipe? Also they do look fragile. I have kids and dogs running around. They look like if mistakes are made and it hits the floor its game over.

The Majority of my pipes are in $5-$9 pistol cases. I can get 5-8 in each. Then I have new pipes I haven't gotten around to smoking in their boxes. I have churchwardens in other cases, I have a small crate full of meers, and I have bags of cobs floating around. Things are a bit disorganized after my move. I also usually have 2-4 pipes by my computer that are the 'pipes of the week' for current smoking rotation. I have a pipe in each of my vehicles, too. Not the tractor though. I usually smoke cigars on my tractor.

I prefer having my pipes in racks and most are. But have more pipes than rack space. So, some lay on the shelves hear where the racks stand.

I thought about getting a large handgun case for them as well. I was looking for one sized for a scoped .500 S&W or some such, and then it dawned on me to search for microphone cases as well.

Well, that just insults my sense of order.
Not the only box either.rotf I used to keep them on padded shelves in a closet but they were taking up too much tobacco space. Pipes don't need to be babied and if not forcefully banged around, they'll suffer no damage.

When I bought my great uncles house after his death in 1971 a few things were left behind including this old tall oak filing cabinet. I'm not sure what it was used for, but the drawers are very deep, about 24 in. I've got lots of items stored in it, but I dedicated four drawers for my pipes. I laid some kitchen towels down and lined my pipes up inside. It's a cool dry room and they're alway in the dark so fading and oxidation is kept to a minimum, and I've been using it for over 30 years for pipe storage.

My pipes are kept on the following: A forty-pipe cabinet with see-through doors; a twelve pipe rack with tobacco shelf from Two Cousins, a gift from my wife; an open eighteen pipe rack from an online retailer; and a legacy round twelve pipe rack with amber tobacco jar inherited from my grandfather through my father. Also various cobs, hardwoods, and strays live on the book shelves. I've culled the herd several times -- donated pipes to active duty military; give a few to a friend; and traded in about a dozen over the years for store credit at SP.
