Tomorrow is my youngest son’s birthday.

And Rod Gates of Jordan will be at a funeral I’m attending in Warsaw.

If he’s not too busy, I plan to take him with me to have Rod Gates of Jordan explain the Irish Rebel song My Little Aramalite.

Rod Gates of Jordan carried an Armalite for two tours of duty in Southeast Asia as the point man for a Special Operations Group Squadron in 1969 and 1970.

He earned Two Siver Stars and no Purple Hearts.

And unlike me my son is 31 years old and that funeral is sure and certain to have lots of eye candy for a young man his age.;)

We’uns was Scottish not Irish.

But we do appreciate the good Irish ballads.

We are ahead of the rest of you down here in New Zealand, it is evening and I have just come back from the Mellick, an irish pub here in town where I took a pint of Kilkenny red and very proudly watched my two young daughters do their Irish dancing performance for all the punters, it was great.

My wife Linda (Irish and Italian) will be making bangers and mash for breakfast and corned beef and cabbage with potatoes for dinner. We'll wash dinner down with pints of Guinness.
After dinner, I'll smoke one of the Peterson's she bought me at the Grafton store on our 2002 tour of Ireland, accompanied by a snifter of Jameson Irish Whiskey. Sláinte!
I'll be wearing my IBM pin (Irish by marriage) all day.

Something I haven't thought of in aeons now, I went to the Henry D. Sheldon high school in Eugene Oregon. We were known as the "Irish" (as opposed to Springfield High's "Millers"). The more adolescent-minded boys were very fond of the acronym from "Sheldon High Irish Team."

I thought St Patty's was yesterday. Crap, I guess I have to cook something bland and tasteless and wear something green. Ha ha. Being a redhead, I used to get away with not wearing green, but now it's white.

I do have a bottle of Quiet Man, Irish Whisky that I can sip a bit tonight. I just can't stomach Guinness.

Called my mother early. She was happy I didn't call drunk. She was an English teacher in France when my parents met. She's 100% grade A Irish born. My dad was born in the Soviet Union and moved to France when he was younger. I was born in Paris. I have so many holidays to celebrate.

Well, I ended up with a pretty good corned beef sandwich, watching the Cleveland parade on TV, and got to smoke a bowl from my 2025 SPD Peterson 304, so I'm a happy guy. Not bad given my current circumstances.
