Curious to hear how all of you are planning on spending St. Patrick's day (if you celebrate it). It's obviously a big deal over here so I've been in the planning process for the last few days!

For me, trad sessions and pints make for the perfect day.

My wife has told me she was going to make shepherd's pie for supper. Monday I have to go to the Bluebell ice cream farm for the monthly Veterinarian visit and plan on stopping at Must be Heaven to get a Ruben sandwich for lunch and wash it down with a pint of Murphy's.

We're just about a week out from Mardi Gras down here in Louisiana and it looks like St. Patricks Day is the next excuse for a party. Out small town had their St. Patricks Day celebration Thursday night at the Trailhead (park like). Green beer and music, weather was great. (wife, daughter and in-laws)

Tomorrow is the towns St. Patricks Day parade (postponed from today). My British Car club participates, so I'm decorating the MGB and will ride with my 8 year old granddaughter. She's pumped, as she's too young yet to drive in the car. Pix to follow!

We celebrate with pints of Guinness and I think this year my wife is going to make bangers and mash. Additionally, I plan on smoking some Nightcap in my green 2020 Peterson St. Patrick's Day pipe.

I'm curious, do the different counties in Ireland have different traditions? My wife's side of the family is from Kilmallock in County Limerick but I'm not aware of any unique traditions they may have. I would be excited to hear if they do have any though.

Edit: I'm currently "pre-gaming" for St. Paddy's Day by watching Italy beating Ireland. I know it's early, but c'mon lads! 😁

Ah is Murphy's popular in the states? I've a few mates who swear by it but I've always been a Beamish man myself

In my experience most counties have the same tradition of going out on the lash for the day 😅
Thats especially true in Dublin, it's only amplified by the amount of tourists coming over for St Patrick's day. Other counties would be a lot quieter I'd say.

And yeah it hasn't been a great Six Nations for us, I'm actually doing the audio for the game in work at the moment haha!

Corned beef and cabbage, and my wife's amazing soda bread, every year.

Usually some Guiness.... and Powers or Tully... and Saint Brendan's Irish Cream.

Then in Evening Prayer / Family Worship I read to the kids selections from Patrick's Confessio, and we sing his Breastplate hymn.

Finally we watch something on his life (I like the "I Am Patrick" documentary with John Rhys-Davies).

Not really, I've only found in in one or two Irish themed restaurants and the only store and the place 1st sampled it International Beer Warehouse, most places it's Guiness but I like Murphy's better when I can get it.

Despite having any number of Irish relatives marry into the family since our arrival in 1623, I think of March 17th as "All Snakes Day," as there haven't been any snakes native to the island since the height of that last Ice Age that ended some 12-18 thousand years ago.

Corned beef and cabbage. Irish sausage, peas and mashed potatoes. Some Guinness. Watching the parade on Monday as a friend is marching and I’m working one block away from 5th ave in NYC. And of course smoking my Peterson pipes.
