I got a nice Bewlay prince from a forums member the other day, and I think I'm going to make it my first-ever pipe dedicated to a specific blend. I'll smoke only Cumberland out of it for a few weeks and see if I can observe any changes.

If I wanted to smoke Lakeland aromatics, I'd dedicate a pipe or pipes. Otherwise, I don't bother. With 92 pipes I pretty much rotate evenly, they all get much rest, and any traces of the last bowl don't seem to bother me at all. I try to keep my attitudes toward smoking pretty relaxed as part of the pleasure of it.

Similar to others. Every new pipe I get deserves the opportunity to become a Virginia smoker. If it fails and has to get demoted to the minors, I will let it play around with other genres until I find something it excels at. Then it gets to stick to that genre or a specific blend if a true marriage can be found. Sorry for the mixed metaphors.

I dedicated pipes until I understood that it was easier not to dedicate them. Not dedicating them I never noticed carryover except with latakia. When I did I was doing what the seniors on the board I was on recommended. In retrospect this seems a purist practice for which there is little to no support.

I’m smoking 2 meers 99% of the time now. Anything and everything gets smoked without a second thought.

Having a lot of pipes and dedicating them go together. Sometimes I would buy a pipe planning to dedicate it, for instance an old Autograph freehand for $200.00+. Wish I still had it. If so I would dedicate my favorite virtual tobacco to it.

I generally don’t dedicate pipes as my palate isn’t sensitive enough to detect ghosting... unless it’s something strong. Same goes w/wines and spirits. I have friends who tell me that they can determine differences in vodka... in a White Russian. My abilities might be more similar to the Dude...

I dedicate my pipes more to places than anything. I have a meerschaum lined briar that is for the boat, my churchwardens for home use, and my Demuths for general out and about. I do have a Royal Demuth from the 30's that I only smoke English blends through
