I would recommend using your favorite spirits.

Just give the stem a good cleaning and run pipe cleaners dipped in your favorite spirit.

I use Ezra Brooks, but many here will recommend Everclear.

As for the bowl... just clean it as you would normally, you shouldn't have any problems.

Methinks you are concerned about nothing.
The cold virus becomes inert after several hours in dry air. I wouldn't hesitate smoking a normally cleaned pipe that has had time to dry out.

Fact: You cannot catch a cold from yourself, nor the same cold twice. :)
Once you are exposed to and suffer from a particular rhinovirus, your body produces anibodies that prevent you from ever getting that one again.

I want to resell the pipe in the future...I dont want someone dying from a retrovirus 50 years from now that was latent in my pipe that they picked up at a Anituique Shop. Some bugs can be latent for quite some time

Do what I do. Give your pipe a long hot bath. :laughat:

That tub is very original! Looks like there is a line for the next bath too.

If you're REALLY concerned about it, send it over to Walker Briarworks for a few day in the ozone chamber. That'll kill damn near anything. It'll freshen your pipe too!

If any germs can survive the tobaccos I smoke I figure that they have earned the right to give me a cold.

Woah, haunted, when did you get the "Resident Comedian" title! I mean, you have been the resident comedian since before I joined...but official recognition from the Man Upstairs!
On topic, I don't worry about it. The cold'll die after just a couple hours anywhere besides in the human body, so, eh.

And by God, briarbully, that bath tub is amazing. It has just about made my day.

nope, the tub is cast iron. I could not resist to buy it. The elderly fella at the antique shop said it was an advertisement novelty for a mans pipe back when bathtubs were still a luxury item to have at home. According to him, it is a very very old item. Sure seems like it, it is small and heavy. Feels the same as those old tubs too, lol.
