Pavement grinder, hack saw or mole grips all work well for the purpose of removing stingers. Early 19th century versions were made out of goose quills and are also shite!

I consider myself a decent smoker of pipes, big ones, little ones, long ones, short ones, straight ones, and bent ones... I love learning how a pipe wants to be smoked best. But stingers. I have yet to smoke a pipe with the stinger in it, and get a dry smoke. They all gurgle like a snotty 10 year old in the Fall. Is the smoke drier? I already dry the tobacco and smoke very slow,.. so, is there anyone in the world who gets the best smoke with the stinger intact, or does everyone around the world yank those things out after buying them? Why would a pipe maker even put one in, in the first place?
I have never heard a pipesmoker say, "this pipe would be even better if it had a stinger." "Only show me the pipes with stingers." I have heard of people who prefer filters, but stingers?

I agree with Cosmic - the only time I’ve tried to smoke one I got a gurgle, and my pipes don’t gurgle.

Don't like stingers an I remove em all. Never seen one glued yet, but have seen some mighty stubborn ones. Put it in alcohol soak, it will loosen eventually.
