Do you mean the bowl or the stem? That stem is definitely horn.Actually looks like the pipe in xrundog's post above.

Do you have a picture of it? I'd like to see it.Sable, picture his pipe but with a stem which is solid yellowish cream in color. Mine is a S&G bulldog.
Can you at least email me the picture of the pipe? I will post it for you.Wish I could Sable. But am way too tech-impaired to accomplish it.
Horn is a great material, but it's not longer lasting than ebonite. They both need care or they both develop problems. If you can show me a 147 year old horn stem that's in as good condition as this 147 year old vulcanite stem:It's a good, trouble-free material that ages much better than ebonite!
The bowl was cut and shaped in France, most likely St Claude. The finishing and mounting are English, done by Barling in 1872. It's actually quite a large pipe with a length of about 10".Sable, This look simply fabulous,ce de la France'I guess,I just ordered pretty similar looking Ropp Algerian Briar coming on my way but with even smaller bowl size, the shape was called acorn or something like that.
