That is real nice, would look good in any room.
I'm thinking about drilling some holes in the bottom of some bookcase shelves, and presto, pipe rack.

All y'gotta do is try! I am a firm believer in the idea that a person can do whatever they want to do if they just attack it gusto.

So do it! Get some cheap wood to try things out on and have at it! Some pine would make a perfectly usable pipe rack. Maybe not beautifully grained but with some paint it'd look nice and rustic.
A great looking rack by the way. I quite like it.

Making your own pipe rack is so much sweeter than buying a rack that doesn't hold your pipe. I bought two pipe rest's and they don't fit any pipe I own.
Nice job with the storage under the pipes. That's cool.
