I picked up one of my Holy Grails tonight. I had been saving my PAD money hoping for something to come along and tonight it did!! A Unsmoked Kaywoodie Stem Logo 5010B Slim Paneled pear. They only made this pipe in 36-38. I got this one tonight on a long shot. My best smoking pipe I own is a Pre-36 Kaywoodie panel that I absolutely love. If this one smokes half as good I will be in heaven.

As unappetizing as a 78 year old virin sounds to me, I'd pop that puppy's cherry in a flash. Pipes were made for smoking. Other than that I suppose you could put it in a glass tube until someone else comes along and puts a flame to it!

Dot-

yeah I know pipes are made for smokin', but for me, I'd smoke the ones I got, and put that 78 year old virgin on the mantel, and DREAM................

Great shape and price. Congrats. I prefer the 50 (natural) as it's fun to watch it color. I was curious as to how many shank logo's you own?

Thanks Guys I appreciate the kind comments.
@Fnord- thank you Jim. I will set my sights on a Liberty Bell or a Calabash next. I have come across a few but either they were in rough shape or just out of reach price wise, but like I have said in the past.. I have the patience of an oyster.. :D I will get em !!!
@buckaroo- thank you sir and I only own two shank logo Supergrains.

Those 1930 Super Grains are something else - and to find one unsmoked? Hurray!

I love a Grail achievement pipe - I'd like to see the look on your face on that first smoke. Savor the victory.

Congrats on the fine score. Looks like the holidays came a bit early for you and all the hours searching paid off. Now just sit down, relax and enjoy breaking this fine pipe in.
What tobacco are you thinking of smoking in it?

Congrats on the awesome Grail score, Gary!!! I love that pipe, from the smaller paneled bowl to the loooooong stem and obviously the unsmoked condition of the thing! I bet it will be a great clencher for another 78 years to come. I hope you enjoy the hell out of it and revel in the satisfaction of attaining it.

Wonderful find. I have a few shank logos, and a few unsmoked '30's era Kaywoodies. Personally I wouldn't smoke it, 'cause then all I'd have is another old smoked pipe. But I'm a smoker more than a collector. Which is why I rarely buy an unsmoked estate. There's nothing special about a smoked estate. There's millions of them.
