Visiting the in-laws once many years ago when there was an “incident” with the cat and the tree.
They had a fantastically decorated tree and a shocking number of delicate gewgaws and collectibles on display, Tiffany lamps and figurines on display, etc., and an enormously fat ornery cat that would not leave the tree alone.
Naturally the damn cat was batting the ornaments and breaking the occasional one when disaster struck. The cat got tangled up in the lights and garland, brought the Christmas tree crashing into the coffee table utterly destroying everything on it, got the tree stand snagged in the formal drapery pulling them down and in the process tipping over another display hutch, before bolting through the house dragging that huge ass tree behind it and causing all kinds of chaos and destruction.
Tangled up cat, scratched paint and wallpaper, glass ornaments broken everywhere, years of Hummel figurines and collectibles destroyed, screaming in-laws, crying relatives, spilled drinks, snacks on the carpets, terrified and angry cat.
It was AWESOME, lol. I laughed my ass off and my in-laws never invited us back for the holidays again.
Couldn’t have been better.
That picture of the cat reflected in the ornament is priceless and too damn funny!
