So, shortly before the holidays I managed to blow up my right quad tendon in a silly accident at my daughter's school. Three days in hospital, surgery to repair what turned out to be a complete rupture, and now unable to drive for the foreseeable future. My wife, Anne, is taking the weight and being a champ to keep our little household going.
Needless to say, the injury has put a crimp in our holiday plans. However, still managed to have a great Christmas and it was especially rewarding to see things through the eyes of a child. Even found a way to cook dinner for 14 Christmas day!
The injury has made enjoying a pipe challenging, but did manage to hobble out to the shed this afternoon to enjoy a bowl of C&D Sunday Picnic in one of the NOS Philip Trypis pipes I scored recently. Otherwise, checking in regularly to PM Forums has helped keep me sane.
My first smoke in a Trypis pipe and it was all good. Dry, great draw.
Anyway, we're off to my sister's tonight to ring in the New Year. Despite some setbacks, still so much to be grateful for.
Here's wishing all of you a very happy, prosperous - and healthy - New year.
