There is a collection of Native smoking pipes available to be viewed online through the above link. There are some interesting pieces in there. This was found in my neck of the woods.

That looks ... odd .. or to be fair I should say it resembles nothing I have ever seen Native American related. What is it made of? It looks like some form of metal, which if true makes this pipe a very hot smoke ..

I'd always thought of Native American pipe smoking as ceremonial, as with peace pipes, but from some of the literature by whites who lived with tribes, like James Willard Schultz, quite a bit of recreational smoking was done by the Blackfoot, and probably other tribes. The cultures are widely varied -- languages, dress, diet, religions, governance.

And the really sharp tribes invented the game that became lacrosse! Also called by some "The Creator's Game", as it was a religious endeavor to some extent. Surely pipes were smoked following the game, which sometimes lasted days. (Today's game is quite a bit pussified, what with safety gear and rules and a time limit...)

Get in the box sometime.

No thanks. I stopped playing ten years ago, and stopped reffing five years ago.

I played box lax twice, and didn't like it, but where I live the outdoor game goes on year 'round.

You can put your location in your Profile—(please!—because people will forget!) That will save questions in the future as to where you live when you later mention local stores, weather, tobacco prices, availability, regulations, location of photos, wildfires, air quality, etc., etc..
Under your avatar, (top right, left most of three symbols) you choose "Account Details", which brings up "My Account". "My Location" is halfway down. Whatever you're comfortable with- town, city, county, state. Just country if you must.
