I suggest... if you do any blending, to let the blend marry a bit by pressing it slightly for a few weeks before trying it. Something magical happens to the flavor. It doesn't have to be pressed to a flake, just set something heavy on a baggie full...

Try rustica and perique, ha ha... if you like falling asleep feeling like you just finished a marathon.
Yes I have a couple PVC pipe and clamp setups ready for pressing. Yes rustica is very interesting, I think it's what people sometimes expect from perique. I smoked some perique straight at a friend's house a few weeks back, but because I read these forums I wasn't expecting any kind of freight train. The rustica on the other hand is a different story. I have have a great interest in the mental/physical/spiritual effects of tobacco, and I am enjoying the exploration of what it has to offer not only as a great tasting leaf, but as a teacher plant. It is reported to do a great many things...

Being an ardent burley smoker, while I enjoy other genre including Va/Per, I found this a puzzling post. I'm not especially sensitive to nicotine, nor is it strongly habit forming for me. I can go for days without a smoke with no cravings. That being said, I have never associated Va/Per blends with a nicotine buzz. I enjoy their lightness and often spicy flavor, but nicotine seems usually zilch. The one blend I thought of was Russ O.'s Fire Storm, which also has dark-fired, which might bring along some nicotine. I sent my only unopened tin of Escudo to the late great Sante as a thank you for his sending me my first Meerschaum pipe, but I will try some up the road. I think it is difficult to talk nicotine in other genres if you smoke quite a bit of burley in your blends.

I’m a lightweight when it comes to nic, but C&D Chenets Cake got me a bit loopy. Nice smoke and flavor, with a definite kick (which I don’t like, but seems you are looking for). Not sure if that one has been mentioned in this thread.
