I am relatively new to pipe smoking and have discovered that my favorite pipe tobaccos are those that have the highest nicotine content and Dark Fired Kentucky.

Here are some that I have enjoyed the most:
-HH Mac Baren Rustica
-HH Mac Baren Old Dark Fired
-G&H Dark Plug / Dark Flake
-G&H Brown Irish X

Those first two are out of production, and the second two are often out of stock.

What are some other pipe tobaccos in this "family" that are similar?
How about blending dark fired C&D ?
It’s hard to beat dark Irish twist. I like the aro blend of it.

-GH Dark Birdseye/Kentucky
-GH Sweet Black Cherry Twist (it’s not a cherry aro)
-SG 1792
-SG Black XX

You may like Peterson Irish Flake
I have tried 1792 and Black XX. I do enjoy both.

I have a tin of Irish Flake, but haven't opened it yet.

Thanks for the recommendations!

That cherry twist though ... some reviews say the cherry is overwhelming. Others say it is completely absent. How odd.

Old Joe Krantz will make you cry for mercy. Bayou Morning has a decent amount of nic. Exclusive and Exhausted Rooster are also candidates, but I have not tried them. I think Exclusive is similar to Bayou Morning, but with double the perique content. I have not tried Irish Flake yet either, but I have had Sterling Flake which is supposedly similar but did not seem too strong to me. Irish Flake is rated as being a bit stronger. Along with Jack Knife Plug, I really enjoyed Triple Play which has perique. Dark Birdseye is also a good Kentucky blend. Since I am rationing my Old Dark Fired, I have started dabbling with the Italian dark fireds. Sinfonia is one I really enjoy from Toscano.

I recommend Kentucky Burley and especially Dark Air Cured. I blend them together. So far as I know they’re only available in whole leaf.

It’s very easy to grow and cure your own rustica. I did it for years. For me green cured is the most satisfying.

DefinItely GH twists/rope. Revor, Royal Yuck and Bayou Morning are in my daily rotations so not too bad. The only blend I‘ve smoked and run from is GL JackKnife plug. Turned me around and threw me down.
