Hi and welcome from Northamptonshire, England and a happy new year to you, plenty information on pipe smoking on here, dry your tobacco and don't pack it tight, then tamp regularly, lightly and there you go.

Read all the above advice, but my best advice is to quit being bothered by it and just relight. With time it gets easier, but most have to relight through a bowl.

Welcome from KC!! Remember to not pack your pipe so tightly and to slow down your cadence (rate of puffing). Also, if you have access to a pipe club or places that have other smokers there you can get advice from them. Pipe smoking is not intuitively obvious. It takes a little time to learn and usually a little time to master. And have someone check out the tobacco you are smoking. You may have picked up a blend that is very difficult to keep lit.

New to pipes. My wife got me one for Christmas. I usually smoke cigars (about 1 a week). I am enjoying the experience but am having a hard time keeping it lit. Any pointers would be appreciated.

Welcome from SE Texas. I had that problem many years ago and I read on another forum (now defunct) that if you very gently puff back through the pipe it will help keep it lit. I tried it and it worked and I still do it today. Just be sure that if you try this, puff very very gently, not hard enough to blow out the ash or tobacco (it may be lit). Good luck.
