Likely different but I haven’t bought my first pipe yet. I use to smoke cigars (just occasionally now) and I vape. I read that I should buy a cob pipe but I’m not a big fan of how they look. I see I’m in for a learning curve so I’m sitting back and reading through the threads to learn as much as I can. I see that there is a lot of knowledgeable people here so thank you in advance for my novice questions.

Your first pipe should appeal to YOU. You cant go wrong with choosing a first pipe if you’re excited about the pipe. And you don’t need to spend a lot of money to get a great first pipe. Most all of the briar pipe makes are of good quality.

If you do choose a cob, now or later, I suggest any of the larger sizes. The Country Gent is my favorite.

Welcome to the forum.

Welcome from Charlotte, NC. If you are looking for a briar pipe I would recommend Rossi. They are made by Savinelli and are extremely affordable. Smokingpipes.com has a very nice selection and are in the $40 to $60 range. The most popular shapes would br the 8320 KS and 8673.

Welcome from the Lake District.
Don’t dismiss cobs!!!! Cheap, brilliant smokers and perfect to learn the art with. You can always get a black pen and make yourself an exclusive poker style pipe ?19E23D12-1EFF-4E84-8C37-A00E9C46B5D9.jpeg
