Simple direct question here, is HH Vintage Syrian tobacco really Syrian? Me thinks not. I would think it is like a Cuban seed cigar grown in Nicaragua, but in the case of a cigar it is not considered to be Cuban nor is it labeled as such. So, shouldn't Vintage Syrian change its name to HH Vintage Latakia?

It did, Vintage Syrian was discontinued a few years ago.

I think because they were one of if not the last big brand to possess Syrian Lat, they get this a lot.

Yes, it is. There has been lots of discussion about Syrian latakia, much of which in the US were lost to a warehouse fire in 2004 and then smoked up elsewhere. Mac Baren stopped selling HH Vintage Syrian around 2018 when it ran out of syrian latakia. See Per Georg Jensen's post.

I have a 1 lb sealed bag from 2016 and a few tins from 2017 or 18. What I've smoked with the Syrian Latakia label sure tasted like Syrian. Maybe better said, it sure tasted different than the replacement.

HH Vintage Syrian is Syrian Latakia. HH Vintage Latakia is not Syrian Latakia. No need to thank me for this basic information. Just send money.

Aged, it takes on a smokey red wine taste. Bought four 1-lb bags, 18 100g tins from 2006-7. Liked it from the first bowl.
