I think this is a non-issue. There was a lot of panic when a forum member pointed out some rusting. . . but there wasn't any regard for what that was actually doing to the tin. I recently opened a 10 year old tin of Penzance. While it's not an exact duplicate for the MacBaren tins, it's the same idea. There was rust around the entire top lip of the bottom half of the tin. And the tobacco was absolutely fine. Perfect, in fact. The seal was intact and the rusting had absolutely no effect on the tobacco.
