I received a couple bulldogs in the shop, a Brick Church, made in London by the Charatan folks and a Sir Douglas. I'm curious as to the latter as there is a Sir Douglas pipe made by Blakemar that is a specific shape--not like this one. Both pipes were in good shape, but the stems--particularly on the Sir Douglas were quite tarnished. When you receive a stem like this you have your work cut out for you. 20220705_193519765_iOS.jpg
The Brick Church wasn't quite as bad:20220705_193903429_iOS.jpg
The stinger on the Brick Church is quite something. You could put somebody's eye out with that thing!

The Brick Church is a twin bore. I'm not a fan. One side was plugged and the holes are so small that no pipe cleaner would pass the blockage. I resorted to guitar strings, starting with G and moving to A! All in all, not a bad day's work. The Brick Church stummel needed a little extra color prior to polishing to bring out that beautiful grain.

The Sir Douglas required little work except for the stem cleaning. AWESOME detergent and 600-1500 wet/dry sandpaper and elbow grease.
