I have one and use it. I actually work with internet marketing and web development and one part of my job is marketing through Facebook, ads and otherwise. :)

Yep,.....I got bored with it after a few months, so I rarely log in anymore.
It was nice for contacting old Navy buddies and relatives I hadn't seen in years, and I had a lot of laughs there, but having discovered a lot of things about some folks I thought I knew pretty well,....I had to cut 'em loose and let it go.
With regard to my friend's and relative's personal preferences, politics and faith, there were a lot of things I was better off not knowing.
Oh,....and good luck closing your Facebook account,....there's no "Delete my account" button.

Correction to my previous post, you can deactivate (not "delete) your account.

Close enough for me.

I with Tommy on this, though a bit slow to say it -- in regards to all that personal information most people wouldn't bring up in an actual conversation with their oldest and closest friends. . .for some bloody reason its on their facebook page -- and you end up making decisions about people based on things in real life, you never would have learned, and even if you don't make decisions on it, you can't un-learn it.
Hell I admit to sharing too much info when its just a forum or something; there's been a couple of my posts even here I've gone back and removed huge tracks of stuff from because 30 minutes after saying it, it occurred to me that I really oughtn't have.
Facebook just seems to encourage that type of . . .call it 'misguided freedom of information" I suppose. . . and its best not to go within a mile of it.

That's the lovely thing about the hide feature. I don't post a lot of stuff to mine. Mostly, it's there to help keep up with family and some friends. However, there's always those who have to have every person they've ever known on their friend list, lol.
