Agreed, but if there’s a accessible comprehensive French trademark database I haven’t found it yet. The ones online that I’m familiar with are as porous as the ones for the US & UK.

The thing you are describing as the manufacturer is actually the trademark of the carver/company. There is a BPOS and something else that identifies it, but I don't know any who carved under those initials or letters.
