Help: Weird Old Cutty French-Made "Depose"

@condorlover1 and anyone else (although he's pretty good with these old cuttys). Here we have an interesting old cutty. An orific button on, what I believe is a horn/antler, stem. The shank extension looks like its made of amber, but I am not 100%. The last photo shows the branding. Perhaps a "V" with a smaller "O' inside of it and a smaller "I" inside of the "O"? The pipe is 8.5" long. For condorlover1's benefit that's 21.5 CM LOL.

Any knowledge about this pipes background would be appreciated.

Hahaha... I am totally fine with honestly. I did describe it as "weird". Does the branding look familiar to you?

Familiar? Not in the least. Look at the crudely shaped bowl, amateurish at best no?

It's not a valuable pipe. I think you are spot on. Nevertheless, I am still curious about its background.

Looks French or Austrian to me. Maybe try enquiring on one of the European forums?

Looks like a 'Bitsa' although the bowl may have started life as an original pipe. The stem and add on mouth piece look weird and almost like the one you see on the library pipes made with that very long birds wing bone. I have no idea who made it as I don't really do briar pipes other than the two I own. Someone on here must have an idea on the markings which suggest it was at least commercially produced?

I’d guess French. There were scores of pipemakers active in France at the time this was made but this trademark (marque déposée) is unfamiliar to me.

I can see that possibility too. Could be that someone dissected a cigarette holder and grafted it into the pipe? This is one of those Frankenpipes, I think.

Check out 1st generation Metz or A metz, something like that. I think that pipe is awesome!!

The middle bit looks like it may be albatross wing bone - a material used often in that era (if it is indeed pre-1920s, if predicated by the orific bit).
