Like some us on the board I find my taste changing towards latakia blends for some reason. I'm starting to search for blends that don't have latakia in them for a change of pace. I find I really like aros and VaPer's, but nothing wiskey or cherry flavored. I'm looking for some good recommendations on aros that are sweet, mellow and not overpowering in the flavor dept where as to hide the tobacco flavors. I have smoked Peterson's Connoseur's Choice and find it very heavy on flavor and light on tobacco taste but I liked it, where as MacB's 7 Seas line has a perfect match of both.
I ordered some Altadis 1M to try out, and some MacB Vanilla Cream Flake. I guess I'm looking for pipe candy and will visit latakia blends on occasion. I think my taste (along with others here) is changing with the seasons. So if anyone has any suggestions I'm all ears!

Specifically, W.O. Larsen Signature. I'll second the Lane 1-Q. Mac Baren 7 Seas Royal is another good one as well as Sterling Tobacco's Sweet Briar. Peter Stokkebye Golden Dansk is another mellow but tasty choice. -Jason

I'm currently revisiting the first tobacco I ever smoked 33 years ago: Stokkebye's Nougat. Gotta say, it's a really enjoyable cocoa/vanilla blend with a good aroma and tobacco flavor. (It's been Stokkebye's best-selling blend since the late 1970s.)

Try CAO's Eileen's Dream. Take this with a grain of salt as I have a somewhat inexperienced palate, but compared to multiple other aro's I've tried, it has flavor that actually comes near to matching it's amazing room note.

+1 for Erinmore Flake
I have just tried this blend and it also was my first flake. Its not a bad way to go, the flavor is nice and the room note is okay.

I highly recommend giving Pipeworks and Wilke a try: http://www.vtpipes.com/
Some of these blends go back well over a 100 years and have been smoked by Basil Rathbone and other old time pipe smokers. Ones that I've tried and really enjoyed are:
BLEEKER ST
WILKE No. 191
RUMCAKE
Try their tobacco sampler, where you choose 4 blends of your choice.

1Q is definitely my favorite aro. Just a nice light mild easy smoke I could spend the whole day puffing on. I'd also suggest checking out McClelland's Premium Aromatic line. Some good quality aros that transfer nicely into the smoke.

WOW! Thanks for all the great replies guys! I smoke MAcB's Regular and Royal on a consistant basis. I don't see EF as an aro IMO it just smells like cigarettes and flower-scented perfume. I will add all the blends everyone suggested to my list and will try them out as time progresses. I was going to buy some PS Nougat but I wasn't sure so I went with LBF instead. I will be sure to add Nougat to my next order it seems to get awesome reviews and I like PS as it has NO bite and good quality for a great price. I was looking at some of those old-time blends from Pipeworks and Wilke but I passed them up. I will definatly try out these as I like the idea of smoking tobacco that has some history to it.
Thanks again guys! Everyone deserves a bowl lets all light up and cause a big smog cloud over NA lol

I might be a bit biased but you owe it to yourself to try 4noggins Three Blind Moose, our best selling aromatic.

All though u said u wanted something not too heavy, these two aeros are so dang good I have to throw them out there. Snowflake and black gold plus, snowflake kinda smells of someone baking cookies or something, black gold plus, I cannot put my finger on it but dang is it good. I would say the snowflake is about a medium aero as the black gold plus is heavily cased.

If you thought Peterson's Connoisseur's Choice was a little overpowering, try their Nutty Cut. Much more subtle.
I agree with the Erinmore Flake recommendations, very good stuff.

I smoke aromatics on a regular basis and also really like VaPers.

When it comes to aromatics, I'm really biased toward some smaller blenders that do their own special recipes.

Look at the websites for Uhles, Milan tobacconists, Boswell, pipeworks and wilke (Vtpipes.com), peretti, and pipesandcigars.com

Read the reviews for the above on tobaccoreviews.com

Pick a few that sound good to you.

That's what I've done many times in the past and I've never been disappointed.

Some recommended Lane's 1-Q, a perennial favorite here, and one I enjoy. I also recommend Lane's

L-77. It's similar in a way, but enough different to make it worthwhile. Not a demanding tobacco, but

with various flavors.

Yes, 4 noggins 3 blind moose, it's a kind of butterscotch flavour, Rich sent me some in my last order, it's very good and I think about 33$ a pound. (I'm smoking it as I write this) Also even though I haven't tried this specific one I would recommend http://www.4noggins.com/4nogginsbulkthomasblend.aspx thomas's blend as I've tried a maple vanilla aro before, and it was very nice but it was a different brand, and I think the 4 noggins would have a lot less chemicals in it.
