Help on fixing new MM Cob

I have received bad MM Cob out of five pcs purchased that have rough surface inside the bowland i was thinking of doing :

1- sand the inside but what size type is the best

2- use pipe mud (cigar ash and water) and spread it to smother the inside
it is not clear bur some areas are having deep cut

2 possible routes to take. Return it to the shop you bought it from or call MM to replace. Second, just smoke with it. I abuse the heck out of my cobs and they just keep on going. I'm convinced that they are the most forgiving pipes ever created.

Honestly I would just smoke it I do 85% of my smoking from a cob and it should be fine

I had an issue with a pipe from mm - I emailed them and they sent out a replacement. No return required.

arabpipesmoker ...... was that supposed to have been a new pipe? because judging from the picture it looks like someone smoked the hell out of it and then did a bad ream job on it :puffpipe:
It should not affect smokeability. Like the others said, they handle abuse pretty well. Since I use mine mainly for trying new blends, I wipe it down with alcohol and scrape some of the carbon with a pipe knife.
You could try to make the bowl surface even ( go slow with a pipe knife and take at least material off as possible ), or just build some cake in there. Raw cob does impart a nice flavor to whatever you're smoking for the first bowls.

That's a bit rougher than most cobs, but probably shouldn't cause any issues smoking it, if you smoke slowly. And the suggestion of e-mailing or calling MM about it is a good idea. I would think they'd replace it without the return of the damaged pipe.

As sending new pipe will cost me shipping cost from US to Saudi Arabia, I will go with slow smoking to build descent cake which will protect the pipe.
