I picked this up at an antiques shop for just under a tenner, you can very faintly see "Ben Wade" and "Colindale" in cursive on the bottom of the shank, but it's almost rubbed off. Sorry for the bad quality photo, it's damned hard to get the light right to catch it it's so worn smooth. I can't find this particular Ben Wade mark online anywhere, the pipe looks like it's had some jiggery-pokery to make it fit the stem (clearly not original stem) which doesn't sit flush with the shank. Not that this helps the Ben Wade portion of your inquiry—based on the white plastic tenon/interface, it looks like that stem came from a modern Meerschaum pipe.
I thought the same! I wonder when the repair was made. There were a few other pipes with it at the antiques shop but very worse for wear
