Why is it people like to stir the pot with their first post? Next time try a, "Hi, looks like a nice forum here. I'm new!" post before you start a drama thread.

Hey 11fb - I listed your Bo Nordh on etsy - 20k and you can have it back. I wasn't having any luck on Gumtree.

I think some folks have a single question or need, so they join just so they can ask that one thing.
I think it's a shame if the OP falls into that camp, since he clearly has a strong interest in pipes. But, yeah, I don't know what it means to "loan" someone a pipe so they can pawn it! And then to be shocked when someone actually does that and then the pipe ends up in another's hands.

Maybe this is a grab at our heart strings. We all feel sorry for Mr. Single Post who is no relation to Wilbur Post and so we rush out and send him all our spare Dunhill's to make a fellow pipe enthusiast happy and to right the wrong his chum did by pawning his pipe. As an after thought I cannot think of a single 'hock' shop that would lend much on a pipe and you are right - the box is the wrong color!

The idea that you pawn something with the idea that you can likely get it back later is a cruel fantasy. It's

like the casinos that promote the notion that if you bet you will likely win. How does the casino buy all that

fancy furniture and pay the vast electric bill? How does the pawn shop pay rent and buy those bars for the

windows? When something is pawned, it is most likely gone forever. That's how it works. This is a life lesson

which, sadly, is expensive and hurtful but necessary. The guys at the pawn shop live off their customers.
