Can you guys help dating this Charatan?
I got 5 Charatan's from the same smoker. 4 of which were Lane era Executive's, most pretty early.
This one was there as well. No Lane marking. Nomenclature is 211X R.
R I'm thinking is Rusticated?
X I think denotes no Double Comfort stem.

Could this be a Reuben era or is it most likely a post-Lane era?
Thanks!

I'm not a Charatan guy but to me it looks like it could be a later Reuben era pipe. The X may denote that it had been repaired by the factory or something else entirely.
Pipedia has an excellent Charatan article, and there's a trove of info in the pinned posts from Ken Barnes.

Thanks a lot for the info.
I was hoping it was a Reuben era, but even looking through all the info I could find, I couldn't really come to a conclusion about it.
