Welcome aboard from central North Carolina, U.S. My maternal grandfather claimed Welsh lineage. His last name was Faxon. My sister went to Wales and no one there recognized that as a Welsh name, so maybe it was on one side of his family. He used to take me along with his hiking club. I was a lucky kid with four grandparents all of whom I knew well. Incidentally, my sister and her husband loved the Welsh choirs; they ended up in pub with the choir people, and the real singing began and went on through the night.

Faxon is definately not a Welsh surname. But surnames can easily slip into a line through marriage.
Davies, Jones, Evans, Williams are some of the main ones.
