Hello and great web sight. Answered a ton of questions I had about Meerschaum pipes. I am new to pipe smoking and building a collection.

I do not have a Meerschaum yet but was looking at your Calabash models.

Forgive me if this is a stupid question but are the Classic, Mahogany and Woody made from wood with an Meerschaum bowl insert or are they all Meerschaum?

Anyone with one of these from this maker can answer.

Stryder, the Calabash pipes normally use pressed meeerschaum bowls. This is because you smoke not in the bowl like other meerschaum pipes. In those Calabash pipes, you smoke rather inside chamber of Calabash, not in the bowl. In other words, the tobacco burns in the bowl, but the smoke comes through the chamber of wood which, in fact, makes the smoke cooler and drier because it is relatively much larger space. That being said, there is no need to put a bowl made of block meerschaum on Calabash pipes which should add more price on the tag. However, if someone wants a meerschaum bowl, we make it for an additional fee.
Hope this helps.

Welcome aboard, sir! Good to have you here and I look forward to hearing what you have to share with us. I only own two meers myself, but I love them very much and maybe around Christmas time, I will request some goodies from your website. Thank you and enjoy!
