On the subject of Laphroaig: By God I'll drink it, but I've never quite been able to get past the antiseptic thing it has going on. My usual dram is Talisker, 57 Degrees North being the favourite. Quite partial to an Auchentoshan 3 Wood now and again, too.

I hear you. I don’t have much use for surgical iodine in a glass of whiskey either.
