I moved to Southwestern Wyoming from Austin, Texas about 5 years ago, and am beginning to feel just like a native. I truly love this area, the countryside, the people, the freedoms, the way of life. People care about each other here, and it's a pretty safe place to be.
I smoked a pipe for about 10 years, then quit smoking for 30 or so, while the kids were young and at home. I found my dad's old pipes a few months ago, and the nostalgia and memories made it impossible to resist buying some tobacco and giving them a try. I remember why I enjoyed it so much then, besides memories of my dad. I enjoy it even more now with the vast array of quality pipe tobacco available.
One thing is I seem to be a wet smoker now, and I smoke too fast. I enjoy just puffing away while I am writing, working on the computer, reading, or talking on the telephone almost as much as when I am in my chair on the porch doing nothing. (grin) Bad habit I guess!
I am also having fun picking up dirt-cheap pipes from China - some of them are excellent, and some - not so much. But for $6-$8, who cares? Finding one jewel is worth a couple less than ideal tries. I have found a couple that I really enjoy, and have four or five that are good for trying out new blends. If they get ruined, it isn't the same as damaging a Peterson, Savallini, or a Dunhil!
