Hello from Wales...thank you for allowing me to join your site.

I grew up in Birmingham, UK...my maternal grandfather was brought up in a Birmingham children's home and, as all paper records were destroyed in a fire in the 60's, I have never been able to find out anything about his origins...

...until now, when another random internet search for him led me to a post in January 2015 by one of your members - "jguss" - and I hope that "jguss" sees this message, as he appears to still be active on this site.

You see, my grandad was Harold Yenn - a super-rare surname in the UK - and "jguss" posted about a company called A Yenn & Sons, briar pipemakers based in Tenby Street, Birmingham! The company was, apparently, started by one Alfred Yenn (1881-1940) and traded using the brand name Yenson.

Member "jguss" also gave details of Alfred's sons (Alfred and Norman) and his brothers (Charles and Joseph) in his post of January 23rd 2015 and stated that "there was more to be said, but I just don't have it handy".

Given the rarity of the name Yenn in the UK and the fact that my grandfather and this company were all based in Birmingham over a 100 years ago, I was really hoping that there may be a family link here, but all subsequent internet searches fail to reveal any additional information beyond the "jguss" post...

...and so I would truly appreciate it if "jguss" sees this and can provide me with the "more to be said" portion of his post from15 years ago...any nuggets of info may just be the break that I need to complete this, potentially pipe-related, part of my family history

I apologise if this is a bit "left-field" of the pipe-related activities of your site, but hope you'll forgive me and allow it as an acceptable post to your community
