hello all!

i'm relatively new to the world of pipes, but loving the experience and starting to build a cellar. i've lurked the forums for a while, but time to jump on in.

i started with aromatics, but am developing a taste for the VaPers and English blends as well. my problem is trying to choose what to try with the multitude of blends available. but i've yet to try a good burley , which i suppose is somewhat odd as i live in the heart of a burley-producing area.

i'm looking forward to advancing my knowledge and conversing with fellow pipe lovers!

Hello and welcome from West Virginia. Don't neglect the Codger blends, such Prince Albert, Sir Walter Raleigh, Heine Blend, Half and Half etc. They have been around for a long time because they are good Burley tobaccos. Enjoy.

Welcome from Florida. I don't smoke any straight Burleys. I prefer Virginia/Burley/Kentucky blends.
You night wan to try Mac Baren Old Dark Fired and Peterson Irish Flake., and Savinelli Doblone d 'orO which has a bit of Perique and Kentucky. It is a very interesting blend.

Hey from central N.C. I'm a burley devotee and highly recommend it, both primarily burley blends or single leaf, and blends with burley as a condiment like English blends with burley.

I like Petersons Irish Flake, and their 3-P. C&D does a number of exceptional burley inclusive blends available in bulk like Old Joe Krantz original, Billy Budd original, Tuggle Hall, Stratfordshire, Big'n'Burley, and Dark Burley.

I also like Amphora Burley, Sir Walter Raleigh original and the Aromatic version both available in a pouch for sampling, and Velvet, though it is really mild.

Don't try them all at once, just over a few years as the spirit moves you. With pipes, slow is good.

Happy burley hunting. If you decide you really like burley, you might try the Belgium variant burley in the Semois brand, thick or medium cut, but I think it is best for the burley initiated, not as an early sample of burley.

Welcome from New Orleans! I’m fairly new to pipes as well & I’ve been dipping my toes into burley. Have you tried C&D’s Burley #1? It wasn’t a hit for me at first, but it’s been in a jar for about 2 mos & I tried it in a BBB apple I just got. Made a huge difference. It was tasting better as it aged a little, but a straight pipe made a big difference.
