Hello folks,
I'm originally from The Hunter Valley, NSW, Australia but currently living and working in Stockholm, Sweden.
I've tried smoking pipes on-and-off for the past ten-or-so years. Previously I was looking for a replacement for cigars (too expensive & too smelly) and now I'm looking for a replacement for Swedish snus (I think it's something like dip in the US) because it's a) too wet & gross; and b) I always feel I need something to drink with it, so I'm either loaded up on coffee or booze just to support my snus habit.
I like the pipe because for whatever reason I don't feel the need to have any liquid with it, unlike cigars and snus. Unfortunately I have a real problem with tongue bite, which I suspect is chemical and genetic, not related to smoking speed. This has been largely nullified (but not completely eradicated) by using filtered-pipes, including a Peterson P-Lip and experimenting with tobaccos, avoiding the more burny-ones.
Currently my favourite toby is Squadron Leader.
Anyway, nice to be aboard. Seems like a nice forum.
