You need to check the tobacco allowance entering Oz. Any amount over your allowance is taxed at (slightly) more than US$1 per gram. ?

I've just checked that now... I can bring up to 25 grams of pipe tobacco, or 25 cigarettes... is this a joke?

If you are staying for a few weeks you would probably be better off ordering from the US...

That’s Australia’s neo-Prohibition policy at work.

I was lucky on a previous trip - travelled with my family and as there were 4 of us, the very sympathetic Customs Officer allowed me to pool our allowance and let me through without paying duty on my cigars and pipe tobacco.

Hi guys. I've been a cigar smoker for a while but have in the last couple years taking up pipe smoking. Its a pretty hard hobbie to keep, when you live Australia with a tin from $100 to $150. Hi there, the forum is a great place to meet like minded people. The Draconian laws in Oz are frustrating. I don't know about other pipe smokers down under, but I have found the last few years a constant struggle in terms of accessing tobacco that is reasonably priced. But, the forum is a glimmer of hope!
