Hi guys. I've been a cigar smoker for a while but have in the last couple years taking up pipe smoking. Its a pretty hard hobbie to keep, when you live Australia with a tin from $100 to $150. If you are another aussie, please reach out. I am a member of a great little community here and we are always looking for new like minded people to chat and smoke with.
Cheers. Matt

Welcome from a fellow Aussie, and much the same for me starting with cigars 10+ years ago gradually preferring pipe tobacco in the last few years.

Speaking of the cost, compared to what cigars are “worth” nowadays it almost seems cheap!
Mind you I’ve yet to try my luck ordering from oversea’s for either, will try it this year and hope customs are having an off day maybe..

Do you buy your tobacco in Oz?

Seems to be taking forever for new stock to come back in, except for tobaccoblends in Melbourne, Myhumidor had a pretty wide range but must be getting mucked around by Covid.
Anyways good to see another Aussie join the forums puffy

Aussie, Aussie, Aussie....Oi! Oi! Oi!

Gday from across the ditch
Aussie, Aussie, Aussie Oi ! Oi ! Oi ! indeed. A very good day at Wimbledon yesterday if you're an Aussie tennis fan.

Matt,

Welcome to the Forums form Sydney.

Like @Brendan N, I was very much into cigars for 15+ years, then rediscovered my love of pipes 3 years ago.
It does seem so much longer than 3 years - my learning curve has been exponential. There is so information available from the internet (eg Pipedia), this very knowledgeable members of this Forums, and TobaccoReviews.

The internet wasn't around when I picked up my first pipe in the early '70s. Choice of pipes and tobacco was very limited. I was fortunate to find an excellent tobacconist near my work who patiently taught me about blends other than Amphora, Borkhum Riff and Mixture 79

Hope you stick around
