Welcome aboard from central North Carolina in the U.S. I have fond memories of Scotland years ago, what beautiful country. I climbed one of those foothills with the slippery shale sides and it was an adventure. Somehow I kept my footing. In the middle of a trip is not the time to sprain or break an ankle. We liked Edinburgh at night.

@mso489 I know the type of hills you mean it is a fair challenge getting up those paths while the ground moves under you, Edinburgh is a lovely place but at night nothing beats a camp fire somewhere with no light pollution, if only our weather was better I could camp out more often, I'm looking forward to bringing my pipe on the next camp out

Welcome from Hawaii! I was in Scotland last year, loved every minute and can't wait to go back. My profile photo was taken in front of Talisker. A beautiful country you have!

Being in Scotland, you should be able to buy quality English-made tobacco from a well-stocked tobacconist. I recommend trying an English-made Latakia blend like Samuel Gawith Squadron Leader, Germain's Special Latakia Flake, or even Peterson Wild Atlantic. These has enough flavor in the smoke that you're less likely to freight train your puffing and will burn with less steam, too. Lay out enough to pack your pipe on a plate to dry for 45 minutes, then pack carefully. Better to pack too loosely than too tight.
Stick with it! You'll get it. It does take time.

A few will become second nature and others ... they appear rarely and are usually not worth looking up unless the post subject is highly interesting.

Hello I was into pipe smoking three years ago then restarted earlier this year. The best blends in pipe tobacco are balkan blends, in my opinion, like GLP Westminster.
