Hey from central North Carolina. My wife grew up in Missouri about 150 miles north of you, near the Iowa line and the Mississippi River, in a town of about 140 people, now down to about 40, Granger Missouri. She spent her career in New York City and Long Island, I guess for a change of pace. I met her in the journalism school at U. Mo. in Columbia.

I wonder how many Paris's there are in the U.S. and Canada. I think there are at least several others.

Google told me that there are 16 towns and cities in the U.S. named Paris, most of the below 1,000 in population. It said most but not all of the places were named after the famous French city, but didn't say what the others were named for -- perhaps locally prominent people named Paris.

I’m about an hour north of Columbia. We were just down that way this morning. I was actually born and raised in Phx. Az.

I've never been back to Columbia, Mo., since graduating, and I don't think my wife has either, but we know it's a different place, with lots of people moving there in retirement. In '66 to '68, it was a placid little city, almost staid despite the University and local colleges. Now it has become more prosperous and cosmopolitan, with international food and pricey real estate. At least I'm glad it has prospered and not withered.
