Yes it is, I was just in there a couple of weeks ago. The still have a decent selection of bulk tobacco and a good selection of tinned tobacco. Their pipe selection was a bit smaller than what I am use to.Welcome from Kentucky. I am originally from Eugene, OR. Is Rich's in Portland still slingin' pipes and tobacco? If so, and you've not been there, check them out. I've scored hard to get leaf there on more than one occasion.
+1 to this. I enjoy Rich’s but getting to downtown Portland is such a pain. 82nd has such a nice staff, decent selection or pipes and a good selection of tins. One thing I really enjoy about 82nd is they do not pass bulk tobacco off as their own blend.Welcome from inner SE Portland! Have you checked our 82nd Ave. Tobacco & Pipe? It's got a selection equal to Rich's I reckon (more tins than Rich's but fewer house blends) and better prices.
Welcome to the forum! Your education is definitely going to continue here.Hey all,
I am a new pipe smoker in Oregon City, Oregon. My first time smoking a pipe was roughly ten years ago, but I didn't end up picking up my own set up until January of this year. My two main pipes are a Peterson X61 Donegal Rocky which I use for Virginia and burley blends, and a Peterson 120 Kildare that is used for latakia blends. I also have a couple Missouri Meerschaums that I use for aromatic blends. I can't say that I have a go-to, or an absolute favorite tobacco at this point. I have tried an embarrassing number of blends just getting the hang of smoking a pipe. The first blend that I truly enjoyed was Eastfarthing by Sutliff. I smoked that nearly exclusively for a couple of months this past winter. But as of now, the blend has lost a little something for me and I have branched out into exploring Virginia and Burley blends (Savinelli Juno, SWR, 8 State, and Escudo are a few) . I am definitely gravitating toward straight Virginias, but have yet to smoke a straight Virginia with any age on it - so still looking for that peak Virginia experience. I am married with three children, and love having a meditative late-night pipe after the family is in bed.
I am looking forward to continuing my pipe smoking education here, and hopefully building some community.

Hey man! Love the lounge you have back there! I have seen a few posts about the Rose and Thistle meetup, and have considered checking it out at some point. Id love to bring the hobby more into the real world! The website for the club hasn't been updated in a while - any idea when the next meetup is?Hey Nathan!
I'm over in Beaverton, so roughly 20 minutes away. I'd have said hello earlier, but I was in Depoe Bay unto this week and not reading here.
Here is a pic of my smoking lounge. Come on over some time and we'll have a bowl or four.
I'm new here as well. Read that there is a group that meets at the Rose and Thistle once a month. Hoping to go next month.
