Welcome aboard! Dont be afraid to ask any questions that you may have. The only dumb question is one that goes unasked.

pipeastronomer, welcome aboard. I also was a cigar guy for a long time. It is amazing at how much different pipe smoking is. It took me some time before I got my technique down and luckily my tongue survived. The best advice I can offer is to be patient and don't be afraid to ask questions, there is no such thing as a stupid one. Once you do get this down, a whole world of blends and flavors will be open for you to enjoy. The one blend that really got me hooked on the pipe was Escudo, it is a Vaper that is sweet and spicy. I have found the best method for preparing this blend is to cube cut it and then do the three step loading. A group 5 or so pipe with thicker walls, like a Dublin or Billiard really makes this blend shine.

Thanks for the encouragement cigrmaster! And all who welcomed me above. I have has a couple of bowls since my last post and both were quite nice. I think I am starting to get the hang of it. I tried some "early morning pipe" by Dunhill as my last one and it was different to say the least. I do like the flavor of my aromatic I am smoking right now (peretti's) but the English type that I think the Dunhill one is has some very interesting tastes and smells... Or rather " room notes"... :)
I made a mistake of smoking this one right after brushing my teeth and it really was pretty bad.... Stinging and really bit my tongue....but subsequently tried it again with a normal mouth and it was so much better. No stinging like the first time. I think the mint of the toothpaste messed up my taste buds.
Live and learn......peace!

Hello, PipeAstronomer!
Getting a proper telescope is on my bucket list - some friends of ours had one, but they moved out of state several years ago. I do enjoy getting out periodically to do some stargazing, even just the naked eye variety.

Welcome to the forum! If you're having trouble keeping your pipe lit, maybe try some 1Q. It's an aromatic, and for me, it requires less relights than other blends.

I think I will try some 1Q. Seems to come up quite a bit when reading the forums... Is it like Captian Black white label by any chance? I would like to get some this week but I have limited access to tobacco shoppe....( out of the city you see)..
