Greetings, I grew up in the 1970s watching my Pop smoke his pipe. He had an Ford pickup with three on the tree. I was always amazed how he could dip his pipe in a pouch of Borkum Riff one handed filling it, shift, steer then light pipe with matches while ambling down the metro roadways. He quit after dropping his pipe, breaking it in the 1990s. But now, we enjoy a cigar together much to Ma’s chagrin. But we tell her “it’s for the children, I’m the children”. lol

I’m more of a cigar smoker. In the ‘80s, I bought a pipe to finish said cigars when they got too small to hold. I tried that Borkum Riff and stopped piping right there. I’ve no idea what my Pop sees in that pouch of…well…nevermind.

It was these forums that had me recently try the pipe again. So, I’m a little new to smoking pipe tobacco. I now adore the English blends. I’m here in the north metro and also up north on the Iron Range.
