Hi gang! My name is Dan. I smoked a pipe from about 2007 to 2015 or so, and then took a little break. I dug out my pipes again about a year ago and I am really enjoying myself. Before, it seemed like a habit. Now, I ususally smoke a pipe in the morning on the way to work, and one in the evening while reading a book on my front porch.
Difficult? Oh yeah! I am a natural-born nicotine fiend. I smoked cigarettes for 15 years before I tried the pipe. Almost 2 packs a day. Quitting the pipe was a bitch. I was a total bear for a while. I used to use the pipe just like cigarettes. I chew occasionally, so that helped to take the edge off a bit when I was quitting.Hi Dan, from the northland here.
You said it seemed like a habit before and then you took a break. I’m just wondering if it was difficult for you at that time to put the pipe down? Nicotine withdrawals etc?

I am most certainly a Virginia guy. I also hold my English blends near and dear to my heart. My all-time favorite blend before I took a break used to be Mississippi River. I made sure to get some in my first order. WOW has it changed! I was very disappointed. The vinegar aroma and taste nearly knocked me over. Nothing like it used to be. It's now aging in a Ball jar until it chills out. What a bummer.
My current favorite at the moment is C&D Bayou Morning. Second would have to be Orlik Golden Sliced. I have a small cellar with about 30 different tobaccos. I buy multiple tins of the same blend so I can jar up one and keep the others sealed.
Thanks for reading. I hope to converse with you all in the near future. Dan
