Very cool story. I wonder if the plantation is still there. Perhaps you even have some second cousins there as well?
Lost the plantation when the Japanese invaded and, at the conclusion of the war, His estate received compensation for it. He was an ex-military man who was re-comissioned and put in charge of guerrilla forces on the island. Was killed about 4 days before the war ended.
