Hi, and welcome from Malaysia!

You gotta try it by yourself bro. Nobody can give you an exact answer on which is nice, as there are cob lovers and briar lovers here, and there are filter smokers and non filter smokers here 😊Everyone has different smoking style and different preferred pipes.

Howdy & welcome from Korea.
As many have already said, CC's are cheap and won't set you back a fortune and they smoke good too.
Conversely, you could pick up a briar which would cost you either considerably more, or a little more, depending what you bought. But having spent more of your hard-earned, you're more invested into the hobby and would be more prone to give it more effort to make it work.
Hope it works out for ya!

I started off with a filter, but quickly abandoned them (more due to laziness). Cobs are a great way into the game and may end up being your go-to over time. I find that I enjoy smoking my cob and cheaper pipes more than the expensive ones I have purchased.

Welcome from a fellow Londoner! There are a few good tobacconists still in London, notably James J Fox near St James Park. While it may not be the cheapest place to buy tobacco, they will be able to give you good advice (although many of their staff are more into cigars) and have a good selection of tobaccos that you can buy in smaller quantities (although 25g is the smallest amount you can buy). There's also a great little tobacconist in Covent Garden, although they only sell house blends. He has an amazing selection of pipes crammed into a tiny shop, and I remember seeing cobs in there too.

Hello fellow Londoner (and how did so many of us get to California?!)!

As others have said, a cob is a cheap way to get in, but might not be your thing. But it's a good place to start. Personally I prefer briars, and a Savinelli would be a good place to start for bang for buck and so on, but it depends if you are willing to put sixty or seventy quid into it without knowing for sure (I'd say go for it myself).

Cobs are cheap and you can see if pipe smoking is even your thing.

In before Harris telling you to by a Savinelli 😂

Too late ya douchebag. I tell everyone to get a nice Savinelli with no filter or adaptor. You will get a pipe that smokes cool and dry and it will give you a baseline as to how a good pipe should smoke like. This will help you down the road when you buy a pipe that is shit. I bought a couple of crap pipes and it was my Savinelli that told me they were shit.

Don't listen to clown above me, he is a neophyte and knows nothing compared to my great intellect. Oh yeah, welcome from Florida.

This is a very smart thing. Buy once cry once. A great brand of pipes.

Welcome from Michigan!

Cobbs are decent and that's how I started as well, but it wasn't until I purchased a good smoking briar (not necessarily expensive) I really came to enjoy it and try new blends.
