I figured you meant a city within the state of Texas, but the weisenheimer in me could not resist.
Ah, heck, I’ll bite. I think I see a gestating Texas in 1835 Mexico. 
I live in an unincorporated community adjacent to the Varner-Hogg Plantation, which lays official claim to numerous titles:
Birthplace of Texas
Where Texas Began
Cradle of Texas
First Capital of The Republic of Texas
Unofficially, every city/town along the Brazos River makes some sort of preeminence claim.

Spain and France both held official claim(s) to Texas before then, if the Texas History curriculum taught to schoolchildren is to be believed.Ah, heck, I’ll bite. I think I see a gestating Texas in 1835 Mexico.
Certainly no state takes its history as seriously as Texas. Missouri high school curriculum leaves precious little time for our history.
Even little burgs like to make big boasts. A little town down the road from me claims to be the birthplace of sliced bread.

I've spent a lot of time in Idaho, its a beautiful state.
If I were to move, it would be there.
For a number of years I was a veterinarian for the state of Alaska.
We also did work outside Alaska and one of the places was just North of Coeur d’ Alene. We were studying the "return" of the grizzlies to Idaho. We found there were a LOT more there than generally thought.
