One of my favorite pipes is an Amphora Canadian made at Gubbels in Roermond. Very lightweight yet won't overheat. Smokes VAs like a champ.

My good friend and fellow pipe smoker scored a pipe very similar to that from a local antique shop. It has a gorgeous sandblast in a rich amber stain. It needed a serious reaming in the bowl, but I think it smokes beautifully for him. Turns out I’m quite jealous of his Dutch pipe, but at least he’s half Dutch like myself!

IMO, Amphoras are some of the most bang-for-buck pipes on the estate market. Amphora had them made by Gubbels -- the same factory that made Royal Dutch, Hilson, and Big Ben -- for promotional purposes.

At some point (not sure when), Amphora switched production to Dr. Grabow in Sparta, NC, but I don't see many of those on the ebay. The majority of those on ebay are stamped "Made in Holland," and they're regularly available for under $50 (sometimes well under).
