I'm new to pipe smoking and am here looking to broaden my knowledge about this new passion for puffing fine tobacco.

I started pipe smoking about 9 months ago after buying a couple cob pipes and a few tins of tobacco. Over the course of these 9 months I've purchased around 20 different types of tobacco in an attempt to find what suits my taste. And I recently purchased a Savinelli briar poker since I’ve decided to continue to move toward smoking pipes on the regular.

Things I’ve come to understand about my tastes in tobacco are I dislike Latakia dominant blends. So much so that the only tobacco I’ve ever thrown away is a tin of Plum Pudding. Although with that being said, I do enjoy a good English blend such as Father Dempsey and Presbyterian. Virginais have become my goto blends. My favorites so far are Peterson Flake, Orlik and Mac Baren Pure Virginia, just to name a few. I haven’t really ventured into aromatics but I do enjoy Larsen signature vintage mixture on occasion.

One thing I’m proud of, so far I’ve never had a tobacco bite me.

One thing I’m not proud of, I’ve yet to finish a bowl down to pure ashes.

Welcome from Northern Virginia!

If you have yet to encounter tongue bite, that’s a pretty good indication that you’re smoking at the right pace. Well done! It sometimes takes years to get the feel for that.
