Welcome to the forum from KC!! Remember to not pack your pipe so tightly and above slow the pace of your puffing.
Oh hate to do this but the Zen of pipes dictates, that while there is no perfect pipe or perfect blend, there is that perfect smoke. Once you figure that out you can confuse newbies too.
I do mean it though. It's like any tool, knowing how to use it and having experience is as important at least as the tools.
