I think it comes down to the competence and experience of the posters here. I have lurked long enough to see that several of the members here are quite knowledgeable about pipes and tobacco. It appears that there are even pipemakers and tobacco blenders posting at times. Some other groups, in comparison, are full of people repeating the same canned advice and uninformed opinions day after day. Some other groups are also full of people posting pictures of themselves posing with their pipes. Other groups seem too superficial to me.

Welcome. If you're close to Tampa, there is a meet at Edwards Pipe and Cigar next Saturday.

Thanks for that. I am a bit far from Tampa so I will not be attending, but I will keep this in mind if I am ever in the area.

I have lurked for some time and this looks like a quality group to me.

"Quality"........ummmmmmm............. I generally don't join any groups that would allow me to be a member. I had to leave a gun club for that very reason.

But yes. A great bunch of guys, R here. Some fellow Floridians, too.
