Thank you for the welcome. We pass through Sancreed on the bus going to Penzance our nearest main town for shopping, banks, etc. I can't say I've heard Cornish spoken very often. Although there is a drive to encourage more people to learn the language to save it dying out. Have been to Carn Euny several times and as you say a mythical place. And yes I do feel lucky to be living here.

No, but we hope to return for an extended holiday when the kids are a little older. I've got a friend thereabouts and a few friends of friends, so we intend to explore more. We only spent a few days in the area and were wiped out from the part of the trip on the European mainland.
Welcome back Mike. I’m one of the new guys here and am only a few months into my pipe smoking journey. Without this site and all the amazing members I’d still be lost and would have probably quit by now. I actually can’t help but to feel a bit of insecurity around most of you fine fellers. The amount of knowledge, know how, and intelligence floating around this place at any given time is pretty dang awe inspiring. And most of that comes from the years of experience from the distinguished older members such as yourself. It’s a pleasure to meet you and I’m genuinely grateful to have the opportunity, and look forward to reading what’s on your mind when you decide to post anything here. And that go’s for all of you fine ladies and Gentlemen. I thoroughly enjoy logging in and catching up with all the latest from your brilliant minds. Even the younger ones. I mean I’m no spring chicken anymore but I think I’m still just shy of the age where I can no longer speak for the younger members anymore. So I’d say even though we don’t have the years of experience under our belts, we were somehow smart enough to find our way here and recognize that pipe smoking, and the benefits that go along with it, make us at least a small percentage smarter. Welcome from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, where lots of Cornish miners came in the 1800s to work the copper and iron mines. Pasties are very popular up here: you can get them everywhere.

I'd be treating myself to a couple of new bowls! Smoked Gold Block in days of yore myself. Came in a tin in those days and was decent stuff. As a returning pipe smoker myself I tried it again recently. One or both of us has changed. Won't be buying any more! Hope you have better luck with the old stuff.

Thank you for the welcome. Yesterday I finished up the packet of opened 25g Gold Block I had. But when I opened the sealed packet of 50g Gold Block it was a different level of flavour, wonderful. I'm thoroughly enjoying it.
Yes I understand the new Gold Block is not the same. So at some point I'm going to have to find a new favourite tobacco. Have you found a new tobacco that you like?
